Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 August 2026

This policy explains what personal information rajpatel.co collects, why it is collected, how it is used, and what rights you have over it. It is written to be read, not just to satisfy a checkbox.

Who I Am

rajpatel.co is a personal technology blog covering enterprise infrastructure, virtualization, and the Nutanix and VMware ecosystems. The site is operated by Raj Patel.

For any privacy question or request, contact raj@rajpatel.co.

What This Policy Covers

This policy applies to https://rajpatel.co and its subpages. It does not cover third-party sites reached through links published here. Vendor documentation, knowledge base articles, and community sites linked from posts have their own privacy practices, and you should review them separately.

Information You Give Me

  • Contact form. The form on the Contact page collects your name, email address, and message. This is delivered to my inbox so I can reply.
  • Comments. When you leave a comment on a post, the comment text is stored along with the name, email address, and optional website you supply, plus your IP address and browser user agent string. The IP and user agent are used for spam detection.
  • Email subscriptions. If you subscribe to new posts, your email address is stored so posts can be delivered to you. You can unsubscribe from any email you receive.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Server logs. The web host records standard access logs, including IP address, browser type, requested pages, and timestamps. These support security and troubleshooting.
  • Site statistics. Jetpack Stats records aggregate visit data such as page views, referring sites, and approximate location derived from IP address. I use this to understand which posts are useful, not to identify individual readers.
  • Cookies. See the section below.

Cookies

This site uses a small number of functional cookies:

  • If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies so you do not have to re-enter them next time. These last one year.
  • If you log in as an administrator, session and preference cookies are set to keep you logged in and remember screen options.
  • Jetpack sets cookies used for statistics and for features such as subscriptions.

This site does not run advertising and does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; the site will still work, though comment convenience features may not.

Embedded Content from Other Sites

Posts may include embedded content such as videos, images, or social media posts. Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you had visited that website directly. Those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content.

How I Use Your Information

  • To reply to messages you send me
  • To publish and moderate comments
  • To deliver new posts to subscribers who asked for them
  • To detect and block spam and abuse
  • To understand which content is read, in aggregate
  • To keep the site secure and operational

I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. I do not use it for advertising or share it with data brokers.

Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)

  • Consent — for email subscriptions, comment cookies, and messages you choose to send.
  • Legitimate interests — for spam prevention, site security, and aggregate statistics, balanced against your rights and expectations.
  • Legal obligation — where retention or disclosure is required by law.

International Transfers

The service providers above operate servers in the United States and elsewhere. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK or European Economic Area, those transfers rely on the providers’ own safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an applicable adequacy decision.

How Long Information Is Kept

  • Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely to keep follow-up replies in context. You can ask for yours to be removed at any time.
  • Contact form messages are retained in my email for as long as needed to handle the inquiry and any follow-up.
  • Statistics are retained in aggregate form and are not tied to a named individual.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, kept on a maintained software stack, and protected by spam and security tooling. No website can guarantee absolute security, so please do not send sensitive information such as credentials, customer data, or confidential technical details through the contact form.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated as the site changes. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be noted on this page.
